DOG OBEDIENCE/TRAINING CLUB SHIELDS

1.          GENERAL RULES

The following rules apply to both the Club Shield competitions listed below.

 

1.1      Award year:  Scores claimed must have been Qualifying scores gained within the period 1st  November to 31st  October   for Obedience and 1st  January   to 31st  December  for Rally O (referred to below as the ‘qualifying period(s)’).

1.2      Eligible Clubs:  Only Clubs affiliated with the Canine Control Council (Qld) [CCC(Q)] are eligible to compete for these awards.

1.3      Eligible results:  Only results from Obedience and Tracking trials (including breed specific trials but excluding Track and Search trials) held in Zone 1, Queensland, during the qualifying period shall be eligible to be counted towards the Obedience Pointscore Shield.  Results from Rally Obedience trials held in Zone 1, Queensland, during the qualifying period shall be eligible to be counted towards the Rally Obedience Pointscore Shield. 

Results shall only be allocated to a Club if the competitor nominated that Club on their entry form or prior to the commencement of the trial, and the Trial Secretary assigned that Club nomination on the catalogue submitted to Dogs Queensland following conclusion of the trial.

Where points are claimed on the basis of titles gained, photocopies of the relevant title Certificate or (where the title Certificate has not yet been issued) all relevant Qualifying Certificates must be provided by the Club claiming those points.  If the official date of the title certificate, when issued, is in the next qualifying period, it will be removed from calculation of the Club’s score. 

1.4        Closing date:  The closing date by which Clubs must submit details of members’ eligible results is two weeks after the end of the qualifying period(s).

1.5        The Obedience and Rally Obedience Club Shields are perpetual trophies and will remain in the Durack trophy cabinet. 

 

2.          OBEDIENCE

2.1      Norm Claridge Shield

2.1.1    This Shield was established in memory of Norm Claridge who, together with Ray Underwood and Bert Halton, was instrumental in and committed to establishing and improving the sport of, and good sportsmanship within, all breeds dog obedience under the aegis of the CCC(Q). 

2.1.2    The award is based on the highest aggregate of points achieved by a Club, allocated in accordance with section 2.1.3 below.

2.1.4    Points for Qualifying scores and places will be assigned on the basis of marked catalogues (or equivalent) for all Obedience trials conducted in Zone 1, Queensland and submitted to the CCC(Q) by the Club conducting the trial.  Copies of title Certificates obtained by Club members and claimed by the Club which the member has nominated for the purposes of this Shield must be collated by the Club and submitted to:

3.         RALLY OBEDIENCE

3.1  Zone 1 Rally Obedience Club Shield

3.1.1    This Shield is donated by the Rally Obedience Sub-Committee. 

3.1.2    The award is based on the highest aggregate of points achieved by a Club, allocated in accordance with section 3.1.3 below.

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS

 

1.          GENERAL RULES

The following rules apply to all the individual awards listed below.

 

1.1        Award year:  Scores claimed must have been Qualifying scores gained within the period 1st  January to the last Obedience or Rally Obedience trial held in Queensland in the relevant year (referred to below as the ‘qualifying period’).

1.2        Eligible members:  To be eligible for any of these awards, the competitor must be a current financial member of the Canine Control Council (Queensland) [CCC(Q)].  The named owner of the dog must be consistent on all submitted Qualifying Certificates.

1.3        Eligible results:  Unless otherwise specified, only results from trials (including breed specific trials) held in Queensland during the qualifying period shall be eligible to be counted.

1.4        Application:  Any competitor wishing to be considered for a specific award must do so in writing and forwarded to the address nominated below for that award.  Each application must include photocopies of all relevant Qualifying Certificates or, in the cast of title awards, the relevant Title Certificate. 

1.5        Closing date:  The closing date for applications is two (2) weeks from the date of the last trial.  No late applications will be accepted

1.6        No award: If in any year there is no eligible applicant for a particular trophy, no award shall be made for that year.

 

 

2.         CHAMPIONSHIP AND GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP TITLES

2.1      Championship title trophies

2.1.1    Title trophies are awarded for the following titles:

·        Obedience Champion

·        Obedience Grand Champion

·        Rally Obedience Champion

·        Tracking Champion

·        Track and Search Champion

·        Track and Search Grand Champion

·        Dances with Dogs Champion.

 

2.1.2    Applications for the above title trophies should be forwarded to:

2.2   TRACKING CHAMPIONS/TRACK & SEARCH CHAMPIONS AND GRAND CHAMPIONS  QUEENSLAND HONOUR BOARDS

2.2.1   The name of any dog which has achieved a Tracking Champion title will be recorded on the Tracking Champions Queensland Honour Board.

2.2.2   The name of any dog which has achieved a Track and Search Champion or Grand Champion title will be recorded on the Track and Search Champions/Grand Champions Queensland Honour Board.

 

3.         UTILITY DOG EXCELLENT CLASS

3.1   UDX Perpetual Trophy

3.1.1   This trophy is donated by Linda Bennett in memory of the Irish Red and White Setter O.Gr.Ch. Tintookie Finegansrainbo UDX who, at the time of his death, was the only Setter of any variety, anywhere in the world, to hold the title of Obedience Grand Champion.

3.1.2   The award is based on the highest aggregate across four (4) Qualifying scores gained in the UDX class.    Applications should be forwarded to:

3.1.3   The UDX Perpetual Trophy will remain in the Durack trophy cabinet and a Memento trophy will be given to the winner to keep. 

  

4.         UTILITY DOG CLASS

4.1   Peter Harden Utility Dog of the Year Perpetual Trophy

4.1.1   This trophy was donated by the family of Dr Peter Harden, a respected senior obedience judge who was killed in a car accident while travelling to judge obedience at the Royal Queensland Show.

4.1.2   The award is based on the highest aggregate across six (6) Qualifying scores gained in the UD class in Zone 1.  Applications should be forwarded to:

4.1.3   The Peter Harden UD Dog of the Year Perpetual Trophy will remain in the Durack trophy cabinet and a Memento trophy will be given to the winner to keep. 

  

5.         OPEN CLASS

5.1   Silver and Gold Dumbbell Pins

5.1.1   A competitor may apply for only one (1) Silver Pin and/or one (1) Gold Pin for the same dog across its lifetime.

5.1.2    Silver Pin

(a)      To be eligible for award of a Silver Pin the dog must achieve six (6) Qualifying scores of 185 points or more in the Open class within the qualifying period. 

(b)      A Silver Pin shall only be awarded if the competitor has not applied for a Gold Pin for that dog.

(c)      Qualifying scores used for the Silver Pin award may not also be used to apply for a Gold Pin.

 5.1.3   Gold Pin

(a)      To be eligible for award of a Gold Pin the dog must achieve six (6) Qualifying scores of 190 points or more in the Open class within the qualifying period. 

(b)      A competitor may apply for a Gold Pin prior to being awarded a Silver Pin.  However, award of a Gold Pin will disqualify the dog from eligibility for a Silver Pin.

5.2   The Viking Muzzles Open Dog of the Year Trophy

5.2.1   This award is donated by Viking Muzzles.

5.2.2   The award is based on the highest aggregate across six (6) Qualifying scores gained in the Open class but including no more than two (2) Qualifying scores under the same judge.  Applications should be forwarded to:

5.2.3   The Open Perpetual Trophy will remain in the Durack trophy cabinet and a Memento trophy will be given to the winner to keep.

 

 

6           NOVICE CLASS

6.1   Castastar Kennels Novice Dog of the Year

6.1.1   This award is donated by Warren and Mandy Doyle.

6.1.2   The award is based on the highest aggregate across three (3) Qualifying scores gained in the Novice class under at least two different judges;  Qualifying scores gained anywhere in Australia may be counted for the purpose of this award. 

6.1.3   Applications should be forwarded to:

 7           RALLY OBEDIENCE

 

7.1      Rally Obedience Dog of the Year

7.1.1   This award is donated by Helen Meharg.

7.1.2   The award is based on the highest aggregate across ten (10)  Qualifying scores gained in Rally Master Class in the calendar year. 

7.1.3   Applications should be forwarded to:

8           DANCES WITH DOGS

8.1   Dances with Dogs Dog of the Year

8.1.1   This award is donated by the Dances with Dogs Club Queensland and will comprise one Dog of the Year award in each of the Heelwork to Music and Freestyle Divisions.

8.1.2    The award in each Division is based on the highest aggregate across three (3) submitted Qualifying Certificates achieved in the relevant Division, irrespective of the class level at which the Qualifying score was achieved.
